I homeschool my amazing, crazy brilliant son Jacob, who is nine years old, going on 20.
I have a neuromuscular disease called myasthenia gravis (MG) that I have had for 20 years. I have a trach that I have to breathe through, and I have symptoms like double vision, overall muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, trouble breathing, swallowing, and speaking clearly. Thankfully I don't usually have all of these symptoms all at once! I have good days and bad days. Some days I can barely get out of bed and walk and take care of my son. Other days I can laugh and smile and really enjoy life. I try not to take any of those moments for granted.
My absolute passion is to live out Matthew 25:35-40 and encourage others to do the same. "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"
So welcome to Living With Chronic Illness...my life with MG.
