June Is National Myasthenia Awareness Month!

A woman goes to open the refrigerator and grabs a can of pop. It falls to the floor. "That's odd," she thinks.

Later that morning, she's brushing her teeth, and notices that she can't quite spit out the toothpaste...it's just kind of dribbling out. "Hmmm," she wonders.

The drive to work is uneventful. SO uneventful that she feels really sleepy and has a hard time keeping her eyes open, even though she got 8 hours of sleep!

At work, she notices her neck is getting more stiff. "Must have slept funny again," she muses.

A few days later, she's at dinner with her fiance, and is propping her head up, chin in hand, elbow on the table. "Gosh, I must really be overdoing it at work," she ponders.

A month later, her voice is shaky, and she's choking on her own saliva. She's noticed trouble swallowing, but is afraid to tell anyone, because she knows in her gut that's a bad sign.

The woman really doesn't want to go to ANOTHER doctor, because they all just tell her she's nuts anyway. "I'm just stressed out," she tells herself. "It will get better."

Eventually, she has to quit her job because she can't speak clearly. The woman simply can't enunciate. It's like she has a mouth full of marbles. She is confused, frustrated, and more than a little scared.

To Be Continued...
