One Of Those Days

It is one of those days.  Because it was one of those nights.

Ug.  Jacob had a nap, because I had to have a nap.  So he was up late.  I mean late, late.  Then Doug gets crabby because he likes to go to bed at the same time as I do.  Well, I think we are the only family in America that all go to bed at the same time.

Then, because Jacob has to have Blackie right up in his face while he sleeps so he can rub Blackie's ear while he sucks his thumb, while he falls asleep.  I'm ready to get rid of all three dogs.  I'm just SICK of it.  Dog hair, mud, they all eat poop in one form or another...the puke all over....I LOVE my dogs, don't get me wrong....but when I'm tired and they have ANYTHING to do with it...I'm just done.

So last night, it's already late, I'm finally settling into bed, getting sleepy, and Jacob comes in screaming.  Blackie scratched his cheek.  Got him pretty good.  He refused to go back into his room unless I put Blackie in his cage.  Well THAT wasn't happening as his cage is in the mudroom.

And Doug was sleeping....[at least he better have been].....so Jacob got his sleeping bags and slept on the floor in our room.  I was SO irritated that I was wide awake again, and didn't get to sleep til almost 3.  Then I was up at 7:30 and couldn't get back to sleep.  Yeah.  Four and a half hours.  Not so much.

So I'm tired, cranky, and tired.  Did I mention tired? Ug. So anyway.  The good news is that 3 more posts will make 800!!!  Calls for some sort of getaway if you ask me....I just have to figure out what...stay tuned!

Random Letters

Dear Mr. Sandman,

MUST we have this discussion YET again? You obviously know where I live because my husband sleeps like a baby. Speaking of baby...my son has a new room. Is that throwing you off? Am I always in the bathroom or something when you come around? Because this is gettig ridiculous. Must. Have. Sleep.

Sincerely,
Half Crazed From Insomnia

Dear Dogs,

You are on a short leash, no pun intended. I love you, but I hate the hair, the mess, the stink and all the "gifts" you bring me. I wish you no ill will, but know you will NOT be replaced. Just so ya know...I HATE it when you're on our bed. Daddy lets you, but Mommy is not a fan. Remember that when it's treat time.

Sincerely,
Your Dubious Owner

Dear Hips,

You can stop causing me ridiculous, annoying pain any time now. Really. I got the point. You have arthritis. I, however, have several OTHER issues vying for my attention. I recognize your need for attention, so I am acknowledging you. Now STOP!

Sincerely,
I Got The Point

Dear Espresso Machine,

I love you. You have helped me get through the bleakest of days. Whatever would I do without you? I cannot bear the thought.

Sincerely,
Your Biggest Fan

Dear You-Know-Who,
Thanks for pulling your head out of your butt in time to salvage my sanity.

Much Love,
Me

Dear Jacob,

I know you love your Mommy. You don't have to get out of bed, come into my room and put your tiny little nose in my face 16 times during the night to tell me. While it IS the most precious little nose I have ever seen, at 2 AM, when I've JUST fallen asleep, it's not so precious. Next time, why don't you tell Daddy how much you love him? I'm sure he would love that. And while I love to snuggle, 5 AM isn't exactly the right time. We seriously have to work on that.

Sincerely,
Mommy Who Loves You Forever and Ever and Always

Frustration on the Homefront

Sheez.

So my hubby and I went to the chiropractor this morning (again for me.....just went yesterday to get my rib back in again)...my mom calls, and needs Doug to look are her toilet. It's leaking, she says. So....we drive up there.

On the way home, we have some time (45 minutes) so I ask him: "What is one thing that I could do, not like around the house or whatever, but personally, emotionally or whatever, that would make you feel more loved and respected?"

Who wouldn't LOVE to be asked that question?? I would. But that a whooooole other post.

So he says..."I dont' know...not around the house, huh?"

Now I know what's coming.

Me: Fine. Something around the house then. Other than keeping the table clean and doing the dishes.

Him: Well, you're kind of a slob. You leave crap all over the place and don't put things back when you use them....

Me (gritting my teeth and thinking, "I take care of a 3.5 year old with more energy in his little finger than I have in my whole body, plus I"m fighting this stupid disease every single minute of my life and you want the house spotless??? What planet are you from???)

"MMmm-Hmmm?"

Him: Well, maybe you could make dinner.

Me: (thinking again, after I'm with Jacob all day playing, schooling, whatever, dealing with MG, blah blah blah)

"Um, I could probably do that...Do you think then you could take Jacob when you get home so I can rest for a minute or use that time to make dinner without him and 3 dogs underfoot?"

Him: Sure, unless there's something I have to do that he can't do.

He's 3.5 for sh!t's sake!

So after going to the chiropractor, running up to my mom's, coming home and planting flowers for 2 hours, I had to make meatloaf, put that and potatoes in the oven, tripping over Jacob and 3 dogs, do the dishes, clear the table, and fill my pillbox...which takes forever.

And I'm exhausted. But that doesn't really matter to him.
Oh, the frustration!!!

Still waiting for him to ask me what HE could do......

Advair and Animals!

Okay. I have been MIA. THIS time it was for a pretty cool reason. I have been feeling AWESOME!!!!!! Now we are so happy we do the dance of joy! Di-di-di-di-da-da-di-di-di-di! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! {Any other Balki fans out there??}

After a lot of rigamarole and 5 plasmapheresis treatments, I wasn't doing much better. SO. The docs finally concluded there was SOMETHING else going on. (Ya think?) So they diagnosed me with reactive airway disease and prescribed Advair for me. Oh.My.WORD. To the maker of Advair: I love you. I will never forget you. I've got your back. Word.

After ONE dose I could breathe better. It's been 3 days now, and I'm breathing better than I have in YEARS. Like before-I-ever-went-off-my-medication-to-have-Jacob YEARS. It's AMAZING. I can breathe!!!! Yesterday I ran errands, in the car, without Doug, WITH Jacob. That has NEVER happened in Jacob's whole life. Whooo-Hooo!!!!!!

Now the animal part. Jacob has been a big boy going on the potty consistantly, and his reward was a puppy. We were going to get a 6 month old golden lab from the animal shelter. Doug checked it out, and yesterday we all went to see her. She wasn't adoptable unti next week to give the owners time to claim her. She was the youngest pup there. Or so we thought.

We walked in and told the girlie we were there to see the lab. She said they just got another lab in, a puppy-puppy, 10-12 weeks old, that very morning. A black lab. One look and I was a goner. Jacob named him Blackie. Here he is.

IIIIIIIIIII know. Is he not the cutest thing EVER??!?!? We took him right to the vet, he was nice and healthy, but only 8 weeks old. He is so precious. Jacob loves him...He loves Jacob... It's awesome.

We also got 6 more ducks and 2 turkeys.

So for those of you who haven't been keeping track: we now have 1 cow (food), 2 rabbits (pets), 2 grown ducks (pets), 4 baby ducks (pets), 2 baby turkeys (food), about 14 chickens (eggs), 2 grown dogs (pets) and a puppy! (Obviously pets). For those of you who have known me for a long time, I can just see you shaking your head. I live on a FARM, yo!

As you can see I have been a busy girl. I totally overdid it yesterday but I don't even care because it was so amazing. I will try to be a better blogger though...I like aiming for at least 6 days a week. I hope you all have something WONDERFUL happen this week!

Love Changes Everything by Micah Berteau - A Book Review

If you're not familiar with the story of Hosea and Gomer in the Bible, it's really quite shocking.  Here's my brief synopsis...
