Advair and Animals!

Okay. I have been MIA. THIS time it was for a pretty cool reason. I have been feeling AWESOME!!!!!! Now we are so happy we do the dance of joy! Di-di-di-di-da-da-di-di-di-di! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! {Any other Balki fans out there??}

After a lot of rigamarole and 5 plasmapheresis treatments, I wasn't doing much better. SO. The docs finally concluded there was SOMETHING else going on. (Ya think?) So they diagnosed me with reactive airway disease and prescribed Advair for me. Oh.My.WORD. To the maker of Advair: I love you. I will never forget you. I've got your back. Word.

After ONE dose I could breathe better. It's been 3 days now, and I'm breathing better than I have in YEARS. Like before-I-ever-went-off-my-medication-to-have-Jacob YEARS. It's AMAZING. I can breathe!!!! Yesterday I ran errands, in the car, without Doug, WITH Jacob. That has NEVER happened in Jacob's whole life. Whooo-Hooo!!!!!!

Now the animal part. Jacob has been a big boy going on the potty consistantly, and his reward was a puppy. We were going to get a 6 month old golden lab from the animal shelter. Doug checked it out, and yesterday we all went to see her. She wasn't adoptable unti next week to give the owners time to claim her. She was the youngest pup there. Or so we thought.

We walked in and told the girlie we were there to see the lab. She said they just got another lab in, a puppy-puppy, 10-12 weeks old, that very morning. A black lab. One look and I was a goner. Jacob named him Blackie. Here he is.

IIIIIIIIIII know. Is he not the cutest thing EVER??!?!? We took him right to the vet, he was nice and healthy, but only 8 weeks old. He is so precious. Jacob loves him...He loves Jacob... It's awesome.

We also got 6 more ducks and 2 turkeys.

So for those of you who haven't been keeping track: we now have 1 cow (food), 2 rabbits (pets), 2 grown ducks (pets), 4 baby ducks (pets), 2 baby turkeys (food), about 14 chickens (eggs), 2 grown dogs (pets) and a puppy! (Obviously pets). For those of you who have known me for a long time, I can just see you shaking your head. I live on a FARM, yo!

As you can see I have been a busy girl. I totally overdid it yesterday but I don't even care because it was so amazing. I will try to be a better blogger though...I like aiming for at least 6 days a week. I hope you all have something WONDERFUL happen this week!

All-Over-The-Map Post!

Well…farm life continues. Doug found one of our ducks dead in the field next door. We saw another %$#$% chicken hawk the other day. They are beautiful, but they are MEAN! They will not leave our birds alone. This is the first time it has gone after one of the ducks though. It's either that or a coyote...but it looks like the work of the hawks. Anyone know how to get rid of them???

I have to say the ducks aren’t too bright though. Yesterday one of them was standing on their frozen solid kiddie pool “pond” looking down and quacking. Quack, quack, quack. Silly goose. Ar. Ar. Doug and Joanna were making TERRIBLE duck jokes! You know, "I guess it just quacked up." "Do you think we'll get a bill?" AWFUL.
Then I needed a bunny fix after that...so Doug brought a couple of them in. OH my GOSH I don't know how I'm going to let any of them go! They are all so stinkin' cute! I mean, come on... Just LOOK at these faces!
Jacob loves them too...As soon as we get back from Florida we have to take them to the vet, get them separated boy-girl wise, and then figure out what to do. I'm going to keep probably 2 females. If we can't adopt them out, we'll probably give them to a no-kill shelter. No one is eating these babies!

Here's me with my purple hair...you can sort of see it...at least I remembered to smile!

Well, the follow up with my doc today went well...he said I DON'T have asthma! So Hallelujah there! It's probably an allergic reaction that presents as asthma, but I don't have chronic asthma. I didn't think so....I hadn't ever wheezed like that before...SO YAY! The prednisone is making me crazy though. Here is it, 12:16 AM...can't sleep, and ridiculously hungry. Go Lucky Charms.

Anywho...kind of all over the place, but that's me right now! Happy Tuesday!

Love Changes Everything by Micah Berteau - A Book Review

If you're not familiar with the story of Hosea and Gomer in the Bible, it's really quite shocking.  Here's my brief synopsis...
